Privacy Policy
The short version: Peaks does not collect your data. There is no account, no server of ours, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising. Your notes stay on your devices and in your own iCloud.
This policy explains how Hannes Jung ("Developer", "we") handles data when you use Peaks ("App"), the notes and todo app for Mac, iPad and iPhone.
No account, no collection
Peaks has no sign-up and no login. The Developer does not collect, receive, store or share personal data within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and has no access to the projects, topics, notes, todos, tags, people, images or files you add.
Your notes: on your device and in your iCloud
Everything you create in Peaks is stored on your device with Apple's SwiftData and, if you are signed in to iCloud, synced to your other devices through your own private iCloud database (CloudKit). That data lives in your iCloud account, not with us; we cannot read it. Its handling by Apple is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you are not signed in to iCloud, your notes stay on the device only.
People and mentions
Names you add as people (for example to assign a todo or to mention someone with @) are plain text in your notes. Peaks does not contact these people, look them up or send them anything.
Images and files
Images and files you add to a page or a project are chosen by you through the system file or photo picker, which gives the App access only to the items you pick. They are stored with your notes and synced through your iCloud like everything else. They are not uploaded anywhere else.
Network connections
The App connects only to Apple's iCloud services to sync your data, and receives Apple's silent push notifications so that changes from your other devices arrive promptly. It contains no third-party SDKs and makes no other network requests.
Exports and sharing
When you copy, export or share a topic as Markdown, the App hands the text to the destination you choose (the clipboard, a file, or an app in the share sheet). What happens there is up to you and that destination.
Purchase
Peaks is a paid app sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; the Developer receives no payment details or personal information about buyers, only aggregated sales reports from Apple.
Settings on your device
Appearance, font, panel widths and similar preferences are stored on each device only and are not synced or sent anywhere.
Children
Peaks is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Your choices
You can delete any project, topic or entry in the App at any time. Deleted projects stay in Recently deleted for 30 days and are then removed. You can also remove the App's iCloud data in your device's iCloud settings, or delete the App.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of Austria. Your rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Austria, the Datenschutzbehörde), are not affected.
